Magical Mitten Makes First Radio Appearance

Magical Mitten Productions on 107.9 FM Adrian College

Yesterday was the first time I have been on the radio. It was quite nerve racking considering I was given no heads up before the show. You see, I spent the night in Adrian because I was doing some promotion work for Magical Mitten at Ground Fest in Detroit the night before. It was a late night so I slept in. Then around 11:45 a.m. my friend Garrett gets home from class and wakes me up saying we will be on the radio in 15. So in a blur I get up put throw my self together and rush out the door. My mouth was dry and I had no idea what I was going to say.

Once we got to the studio we had 2 minutes to get ready. I hopped in the studio took a deep breath and then we went live. Overall, I was really happy with the how the show went and it was great to get some free promotion done for the Devil's Night show we are throwing this week at LA Cafe.

I'm looking forward to doing more radio promotion and hope that 107.9 FM will have us back on for events in the future.

Please listen to the interview above and also check out Magical Mitten Productions on Facebook.

Just Say No to GMOs

October is Non-GMO Month

Genetically Modified Organisms or GMOs have been slowing finding their ways into our food supply ever since the early 90s. They are everywhere! 88% of corn, 93% of soy, 90% of canola, and 55% of sugar beats. If they are in your food they must be safe? Well if you ask the FDA they will say yes. However, many independent studies have shown otherwise.

These are the top ten reasons to avoid GMOs as compiled by the Institute for Responsible Technology.

  1. GMOs Are Unhealthy
  2. GMOs contaminate forever
  3. GMOs increase herbicide use
  4. GMOs create dangerous side effects
  5. Government oversight is laxed
  6. GMO research is biased
  7. Independent research is not covered in the media
  8. GMOs harm the environment
  9. GMOs do not increase crop yield
  10. Consumers have the power if we stop buying, GMOs will go aways
For more information on this list please go to The Institute for Responsible Technology website

In a world where the media is controlled by so few companies it is easy for powerful companies such as monsanto to keep negative press out of the big papers. It is up to you as the consumer to educate your self. Read up and remember to. "Just Say No, To GMOs!"

Facebook vs Google the Fight for Advertising Supremacy

The current digital ad market breaks down to two companies. Facebook and Google. Google has about 33% of the market and Facebook has about 6%. However, Facebook is not laying down to easy on this market share. Facebook is currently working on some new advertisements platforms. The newest Facebook ads will show up in your newsfeed as automatically playing videos. Investors love the idea expecting growth in Facebook's stocks.

“Facebook is laying the foundation for a new video ad product, which we believe could be its next billion-dollar business,” Says financial analyst Brian Pitz
I for one think this idea is ridiculous. What can you expect? Ever since Facebook went public getting more Ads on to the site has been their main goal. But putting automatically playing Adds in the newsfeed seems a little too much for me. I know Facebook feels invincible, but I'm sure in its hay-day Myspace did as well. Facebook needs to stop operating with the idea they are too big to fail. The more commercial they become the more likely people are to switch to something new.

What do you think about automatically playing adds in your newsfeed?

Twitter tweets big news

It's always big news when a company as well known as twitter first breaks the news of an IPO. But the way twitter told the world was great. What better way for twitter to tell the world than with a tweet of their own.
“We’ve confidentially submitted an S-1 to the S.E.C. for a planned I.P.O.,” was all twitter needed to tweet to start a global debate. It was probably a no brainier for Twitters PR department to use their own service to announce this. I personally just like the simplicity in how they did it. Since this tweet on September 12 twitter has not released any further information. Keep the public in the dark about the detials allows for even more talk about the IPO. The public is not just talking about if they are going to buy this allows for people also to have an opinion on how the stock will be offered. The amount of social media that post generated has to be an outrageous number. I'm sure in a tweet very soon we will get more details but I just love how twitter is stringing us along.

Beautiful Wisconsin Barn Wedding

Yesterday was a great day filled with love. It was the joining of Jeff Olson and Erin Ellison. The two have been together for seven years and it was clear to everyone at the ceremony and reception that they are deeply in love. The reception was held outdoors and was simple but very pretty.

After the ceremony we went to the barn for the reception. It was in a 100 year old barn. We started the night off with beer (that was brewed by Jeff himself) and local Wisconsin wine.

The beer and wine was going all night and after dinner was when things got interesting. A local bluegrass band started playing and the barn turned into a great time of line dancing and Irish dance.

Overall I had a great time and can't for the next time I get to go to a wedding. Weddings are always just full have happy people and good times :D

Peaceful fall day

I love crisp fall days with a light rain so relaxing. Perfect time for me to hit the books and prepare for the week.
